Settings you control

  • Server name and descriptionPreset to “Neuer Server von Nexthosting”. According to Stunlock, the description shows up in the details of the server list and in chat as soon as someone joins.
  • Player countFrom 1 to 128 – preset according to your plan. On top of that come slots for admins, who can still get in when the server is full.
  • PasswordA password for your server – or none, and it is open to everyone.
  • Rules and difficultyA preset loads ready-made game rules, such as StandardPvE or StandardPvP – on every start, even for an existing world. You choose the difficulty from Easy, Normal and Brutal.
  • AdminsEnter your admins’ Steam64 IDs. Your server adds them to the admin list on every start; entries already in the list stay.
  • World and savesThe world name is a folder on your server – a new name starts a new world. You also decide how often your server saves and how many saves it keeps.

All of this is in the panel under “Startup settings” and applies on every start; it takes precedence over the ServerHostSettings.json and ServerGameSettings.json files in the save-data/Settings folder. If you leave the game rules preset empty, the rules in ServerGameSettings.json apply, according to Stunlock.

Join a V Rising server: server list or IP

Your server registers with Steam. According to Stunlock, the usual way is the server list in the game – your friends search there for your server’s name. Because the list does not always load every server, Stunlock itself names the second way: Direct Connect with the IP address and port.

Through the server list

  1. Select Online Play in the main menu.
  2. Open Find Servers in the bottom right corner.
  3. Find your server by its name and join.
  4. If it has only just started, it can take a while to appear in the list.

Steps and menu names according to Stunlock Studios, in English.

Through IP address and port

  1. Note the IP address and port of your server from the panel.
  2. In the game, open Online Play › Find Servers.
  3. Select Display all Servers & Settings.
  4. Direct Connect opens a window: enter both there, such as IP-address:port.

Steps according to Stunlock Studios; your server accepts connections directly, without going through third-party relays.

Nexthosting Schutz

Players stay connected. Flooders get locked out.

Every game server at Nexthosting is protected against DDoS attacks at no extra cost. With a dedicated IP address, your server gets a filter all to itself – and you get the panel where you watch every attack bounce off.

All quiet. Blue means your players. They walk through the gate – that is your server's port.

Example, no real data

packets per second

Moving example from the protection panel: small squares run towards a wall. Blue squares – the players – pass through the gate to the server, during an attack too. Sand-coloured squares – the attack – get stuck at the wall.

Sand stays outside

Senders that open connections in bulk are locked out automatically while an attack is running. You lift any lock with one click.

Blue keeps playing

Existing connections are never cut. Regulars – anyone who has spent a while on your server – get in straight away, even in the middle of an attack.

Your situation room

Protection panel, tab "Herkunft" (origin): world map with traffic by country, three blocked countries hatched in red, next to it the strongest countries of origin.

You see where it comes from

The map shows the traffic to your server, country by country. Block a country with one click – or allow only the ones you choose. If you like, the protection blocks attacking countries by itself while an attack is running.

Protection panel, page of one attack: "Vorbei. Der Angriff dauerte 22 minutes" (over, the attack lasted 22 minutes), below it the course – above the line what did not get through, below what was let through – and the attack in figures.

Every attack is put on record

Course, waves and senders, minute by minute – as a PDF and as a table. One click reports the attack to Nexthosting: an urgent notice at once, followed by a full report as a PDF. On request with a confirmation you can hand to the police or other authorities.

Protection panel, tab "Einstellungen" (settings): the three protection levels as pictures of the wall with gates of different width, below them the switches for what the protection does by itself during an attack.

You decide how strict

Three protection levels – and if you like, the protection tightens by itself when an attack starts. You are told by e-mail and Discord as soon as an attack begins and when it is over. Plus: a test of the protection at the push of a button, co-managers for your community's admins, and traffic per port.

What the protection costs

With every game server
The data centre's basic protection against DDoS attacks. At no extra cost.
With a dedicated IP address
A filter for your address alone, and the protection panel with it – for €3.79 a month plus a one-time setup fee of €4.99, with no further charge. Usually set up within a few minutes; you can also add it later.
Order a V Rising serverCompare plans

You pick the dedicated IP address as an add-on while ordering. Server location: a data centre in Germany.

Included for free: your server’s live status

Your players can see for themselves whether the server is up and how full it is right now.

In Discord
A message in your channel that updates itself: status, players, map and address. No bot needed.
On websites and forums
A banner as an image, for a signature for example. You copy the embed code in the panel.

Included with every game server at no extra charge, you switch it on in the panel. Player count and map are available for games with a server query, online or offline is always shown.

Example: a Discord channel shows the status message of a server with 12 of 50 players, ping, uptime and address. Below it is a forum post whose signature contains the status banner of the same server. Both show the same player count.

Frequently asked questions about your V Rising server

Costs, setup, player numbers and cancellation – answered briefly.

From €10.99 per month (Basic plan). The largest plan, Advanced, costs €13.99 per month. The plans differ in memory, cores and storage. These are final prices, and there is no setup fee.

After payment, your server sets itself up. You open the panel straight from your customer account.

According to Stunlock, through Direct Connect: in the game, select Online Play, then Find Servers in the bottom right corner and Display all Servers & Settings. Direct Connect opens a window where you enter your server’s IP address and port. You will find both in your panel.

Your server registers with Steam. According to Stunlock, however, the in-game list loads thousands of servers at once and does not always catch all of them; a server that has just started also needs a while to appear there. You do not have to wait: through Direct Connect, you join directly with the IP address and port – see above.

According to Stunlock, yes. In the game, you find the folder of your save through Load Game and Go to Directory; back it up completely. Then stop the server – it saves the world while stopping – and, according to Stunlock, upload the folder to save-data/Saves/v4/ – with the file manager or via SFTP.

Enter the folder name under “Save Name” in the startup settings. Leave the game rules preset empty: your server loads a preset on every start, even for an uploaded world. According to Stunlock, your friends get their vampires back when they join with the same account.

Enter your Steam64 ID under “Admin Steam IDs” in the startup settings – several separated by commas. Your server writes them to the adminlist.txt file in the save-data/Settings folder on every start. According to Stunlock, you find your ID in Steam at the top of the Account Details page.

According to Stunlock, you then turn on the console in the game’s options, open it with ~ and log in with adminauth. After that, commands such as kick, banuser and unban are available.

Yes, through RCON – the remote console is turned on for your server. If you leave the “RCON Password” field empty, your server generates a password on first start and shows it in the console; you will find the port in your panel. With an RCON program, you can then send commands – help lists them all; according to Stunlock, they include announce and shutdown.

We do not limit slots – you pay for hardware. The player numbers on the plans are guide values; how many your server really handles depends on your world and your game rules. According to Stunlock, a V Rising server technically supports up to 128 players at the same time; you set the number in the startup settings.

Yes. You can upgrade at any time; the change takes effect immediately and the difference is charged pro rata. Downgrades take effect at the end of the term. You can also add just RAM, cores or storage. Your data stays in place.

Yes. You book your own IP address as an add-on to your server. With it, you get up to 100 ports of your choice and the protection panel.

Yes, in every plan. Backup slots: Basic 2, Advanced 3. Back up with one click or set up your own schedule in the panel; restoring also takes one click.

In a data center in Germany. What applies to availability is set out in the Service Level Agreement.

Yes. With monthly billing you can cancel your server monthly. Paying in advance makes it up to 15% cheaper; the chosen term then applies. If you only need a break, you can pause the server – then you pay only for keeping your data.
