Plans

From raft to drakkar. You don’t pay for slots – we do not limit seats. Valheim itself lets up to 10 players into a world at once; that holds for every plan. What grows is memory, cores, storage and the number of backup slots – what a plan is sized for is on its card. Standard or with mods – you choose when you order. How mods work with us

Prices for monthly payment, final prices (no VAT under § 19 UStG), no setup fee. Up to 15 % less when you pay in advance – the prices per term are on the product page. In every plan: console, file manager and SFTP. “With mods (BepInEx preinstalled)” costs nothing extra.

When the hall grows

Extend your server
Add memory, cores or storage one by one – permanently and without changing plans.
Boost
More memory and CPU power for exactly the time you need it. On the evening of the big boss fight, for example, when the whole crew is online.
Change plans
Up at any time and at once, the difference is charged pro rata. Down at the end of the term.
Pause your server
The crew is taking a break? While your server is paused you only pay for keeping your data – and you resume whenever you like.

Set up your world

All of this is yours to decide for your Valheim server. Try it here – the board shows what you enter in the startup settings in the panel.

Valheim creates the world under this name. A new name starts a new world; the old one stays where it is.

5 to 20 characters. It must not be part of the server name.

Switch on crossplay?

With crossplay, friends who do not play Valheim on Steam can join too – on Xbox, for example.

Valheim with mods

Whether your server comes with the mod loader BepInEx is your choice when you order – in every plan, at no extra cost. Which mods run is up to you: you upload them yourself.

When you order
You choose “Standard (no mods)” or “With mods (BepInEx preinstalled)”. “Standard” is preselected. If you pick “With mods”, we set up BepInEx right away.
Uploading mods
With the file manager or via SFTP into the folder BepInEx/plugins, then you restart the server. The settings of your mods are in BepInEx/config.
Your fellow players
Many mods have to be installed by all players as well – in the same version. Pure server mods do not need that. That is why we do not promise crossplay together with mods.
After a Valheim update
Valheim updates itself when the server starts, unless you switch that off. BepInEx and your mods stay where they are. After a big update, some mods only run again once their authors have adapted them.
Updating BepInEx
With “Reinstall server” in the panel. Your world and your mods are kept.
Switching later
You cannot switch between “Standard” and “With mods” with a click. For that, write to our support.

Nexthosting Schutz

Players stay connected. Flooders get locked out.

Every game server at Nexthosting is protected against DDoS attacks at no extra cost. With a dedicated IP address, your server gets a filter all to itself – and you get the panel where you watch every attack bounce off.

All quiet. Blue means your players. They walk through the gate – that is your server's port.

Example, no real data

Arriving right now242
Turned away1
Let through238
packets per second

Moving example from the protection panel: small squares run towards a wall. Blue squares – the players – pass through the gate to the server, during an attack too. Sand-coloured squares – the attack – get stuck at the wall.

Sand stays outside

Senders that open connections in bulk are locked out automatically while an attack is running. You lift any lock with one click.

Blue keeps playing

Existing connections are never cut. Regulars – anyone who has spent a while on your server – get in straight away, even in the middle of an attack.

Your situation room

Protection panel, tab "Herkunft" (origin): world map with traffic by country, three blocked countries hatched in red, next to it the strongest countries of origin.

You see where it comes from

The map shows the traffic to your server, country by country. Block a country with one click – or allow only the ones you choose. If you like, the protection blocks attacking countries by itself while an attack is running.

Protection panel, page of one attack: "Vorbei. Der Angriff dauerte 22 minutes" (over, the attack lasted 22 minutes), below it the course – above the line what did not get through, below what was let through – and the attack in figures.

Every attack is put on record

Course, waves and senders, minute by minute – as a PDF and as a table. One click reports the attack to Nexthosting: an urgent notice at once, followed by a full report as a PDF. On request with a confirmation you can hand to the police or other authorities.

Protection panel, tab "Einstellungen" (settings): the three protection levels as pictures of the wall with gates of different width, below them the switches for what the protection does by itself during an attack.

You decide how strict

Three protection levels – and if you like, the protection tightens by itself when an attack starts. You are told by e-mail and Discord as soon as an attack begins and when it is over. Plus: a test of the protection at the push of a button, co-managers for your community's admins, and traffic per port.

What the protection costs

With every game server
The data centre's basic protection against DDoS attacks. At no extra cost.
With a dedicated IP address
A filter for your address alone, and the protection panel with it – for €3.79 a month plus a one-time setup fee of €4.99, with no further charge. Usually set up within a few minutes; you can also add it later.

You pick the dedicated IP address as an add-on while ordering. Server location: a data centre in Germany.

In the panel for Valheim

Startup settings
Server name, password, world name, community list, crossplay, updating and saving the world – all in one form.
Bring your world
A Valheim world consists of two files ending in .db and .fwl. You upload both with the file manager or via SFTP and enter their name as the world name.
Backups
As many backup slots as your plan has. You back up with one click or set up a schedule in the panel yourself.
Schedules
A restart at night, for example, when nobody is playing.
Crash notice
If your server crashes you are told, if you like – by e-mail or Discord.

Included for free: your server’s live status

Your players can see for themselves whether the server is up and how full it is right now.

In Discord
A message in your channel that updates itself: status, players, map and address. No bot needed.
On websites and forums
A banner as an image, for a signature for example. You copy the embed code in the panel.

Included with every game server at no extra charge, you switch it on in the panel. Player count and map are available for games with a server query, online or offline is always shown.

Example: a Discord channel shows the status message of a server with 12 of 50 players, ping, uptime and address. Below it is a forum post whose signature contains the status banner of the same server. Both show the same player count.

Frequently asked questions

What Vikings want to know before ordering.

Your question is not here? Write to us

How quickly is my Valheim server ready?

After payment your server sets itself up and starts. On the first start Valheim creates your world. You open the panel straight from your customer account.

How do my friends join?

In Valheim via “Join Game”. If your server is in the community list, they look for its name there. Otherwise they enter the address of your server under “Add server” – you find the address in the panel. Either way they need your password.

How many players can play at once?

You don’t pay for slots with us – we do not limit seats. Valheim itself lets up to 10 players into a world at once; that holds for every plan.

The plans differ in memory, cores, storage and backup slots. As a guide: Basic for small groups and young worlds, Advanced for the regular crew, Premium for big builds and widely explored worlds, Community for long-running, heavily built worlds with a full crew.

Can I use mods?

Yes. When you order, you choose “With mods (BepInEx preinstalled)” instead of “Standard (no mods)” – in every plan, at no extra cost. The mod loader BepInEx is then set up right away.

You upload your mods yourself: with the file manager or via SFTP into the folder BepInEx/plugins, then you restart the server. Many mods have to be installed by all players as well, in the same version; pure server mods do not.

You cannot switch between “Standard” and “With mods” later with a click – for that, write to our support.

Can friends without Steam join?

Yes, with crossplay – on Xbox, for example. The switch is in the startup settings; it is off at first. After switching it on, restart the server.

We do not promise this for a server with mods: many mods have to be installed by every player.

Can I bring my existing world?

Yes. A Valheim world consists of two files ending in .db and .fwl. You upload both to your server with the file manager or via SFTP and enter their name as the world name in the startup settings. After a restart your server runs that world.

How do I keep my world safe?

In two ways. Your plan has backup slots: you back up with one click or set up a schedule in the panel.

On top of that, Valheim itself keeps older states of the world as copies. How often and how many is set in the startup settings.

Can I change or extend later?

Yes. You move to a larger plan at any time and at once, the difference is charged pro rata; to a smaller one at the end of the term. Or you add memory, cores or storage one by one with “Extend your server”.

Is there a minimum term?

With monthly billing you can cancel your plan monthly. Longer terms can be chosen as well; then the agreed term applies.

Ready for the tenth world?

Pick a plan, pay – your server sets itself up.
