When your tribe grows

Extend your server
Add memory, cores or storage one by one – permanently and without changing plans.
Boost
More memory and CPU power for exactly the time you need it. At the weekend, for example, when the whole tribe is online.
Change plans
Up at any time and at once, the difference is charged pro rata. Down at the end of the term.
Pause your server
The tribe is taking a break? While your server is paused you only pay for keeping your data – and you resume whenever you like.

Your rates

Four values decide how fast your tribe gets ahead. Set them here – next to them you get the finished lines for your server’s settings files.

How fast should it be?
TamingTamingSpeedMultiplier

A tame that would take 2 hours is done after about 40 minutes.

HarvestingHarvestAmountMultiplier

Every hit yields twice the amount of wood, stone and berries.

ExperienceXPMultiplier

Every action earns twice as many experience points.

Baby maturationBabyMatureSpeedMultiplier

A baby that would take 4 days to grow is fully grown after about 19 hours.

The lines for your server

GameUserSettings.iniShooterGame/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/
[ServerSettings]
TamingSpeedMultiplier=3.0
HarvestAmountMultiplier=2.0
XPMultiplier=2.0
Game.iniShooterGame/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/
[/script/shootergame.shootergamemode]
BabyMatureSpeedMultiplier=5.0

The values are factors: 1.0 is what the game ships with, 3.0 means three times as fast or three times as much.

Where do I enter this?
In the panel’s file manager or via SFTP, in the folder ShooterGame/Saved/Config/LinuxServer. The section [ServerSettings] already exists in GameUserSettings.ini – put the lines there instead of creating it twice.
Stop first, then edit
ARK rewrites its settings file when it shuts down. Stop the server, change the values and start it again – then they stay.
Hatching and mating
Game.ini is also the place for hatching time and mating interval: EggHatchSpeedMultiplier and MatingIntervalMultiplier. If the file does not exist yet, create it in the same folder.

Nexthosting Schutz

Players stay connected. Flooders get locked out.

Every game server at Nexthosting is protected against DDoS attacks at no extra cost. With a dedicated IP address, your server gets a filter all to itself – and you get the panel where you watch every attack bounce off.

All quiet. Blue means your players. They walk through the gate – that is your server's port.

Example, no real data

Arriving right now242
Turned away1
Let through238
packets per second

Moving example from the protection panel: small squares run towards a wall. Blue squares – the players – pass through the gate to the server, during an attack too. Sand-coloured squares – the attack – get stuck at the wall.

Sand stays outside

Senders that open connections in bulk are locked out automatically while an attack is running. You lift any lock with one click.

Blue keeps playing

Existing connections are never cut. Regulars – anyone who has spent a while on your server – get in straight away, even in the middle of an attack.

Your situation room

Protection panel, tab "Herkunft" (origin): world map with traffic by country, three blocked countries hatched in red, next to it the strongest countries of origin.

You see where it comes from

The map shows the traffic to your server, country by country. Block a country with one click – or allow only the ones you choose. If you like, the protection blocks attacking countries by itself while an attack is running.

Protection panel, page of one attack: "Vorbei. Der Angriff dauerte 22 minutes" (over, the attack lasted 22 minutes), below it the course – above the line what did not get through, below what was let through – and the attack in figures.

Every attack is put on record

Course, waves and senders, minute by minute – as a PDF and as a table. One click reports the attack to Nexthosting: an urgent notice at once, followed by a full report as a PDF. On request with a confirmation you can hand to the police or other authorities.

Protection panel, tab "Einstellungen" (settings): the three protection levels as pictures of the wall with gates of different width, below them the switches for what the protection does by itself during an attack.

You decide how strict

Three protection levels – and if you like, the protection tightens by itself when an attack starts. You are told by e-mail and Discord as soon as an attack begins and when it is over. Plus: a test of the protection at the push of a button, co-managers for your community's admins, and traffic per port.

What the protection costs

With every game server
The data centre's basic protection against DDoS attacks. At no extra cost.
With a dedicated IP address
A filter for your address alone, and the protection panel with it – for €3.79 a month plus a one-time setup fee of €4.99, with no further charge. Usually set up within a few minutes; you can also add it later.
Order a ARK serverCompare plans

You pick the dedicated IP address as an add-on while ordering. Server location: a data centre in Germany.

Eleven maps, one field

Which map runs is decided by a single field in the startup settings. Tap an island – next to it you see what to enter.

The islands are drawn freely, not the real outlines.

This map belongs to an expansion. Anyone who wants to join needs it in their own game.

Changing the map
Enter the name of the new map and restart the server. Every map saves to its own file, TheIsland.ark for example – the state of the old map stays where it is.
Workshop mods
The IDs of your mods go into the “Mods” field, separated by commas. On start your server downloads them itself and keeps them up to date.
Passwords
A server password for closed groups and an admin password for the in-game commands. You change both in the startup settings.
BattlEye and updates
You switch BattlEye on or off. If your server should look for a new version of the game on every start, switch on the automatic update.
Launch parameters
You add extra parameters yourself, for example -crossplay, so players from the Epic Games Store can join as well.

Your camp in the panel

Console, files, backups and permissions for your admins – all in the browser. The pictures show the real panel.

Schedules
Restarts or backups at fixed times are set up by you in the panel.
Crash notice
If your server crashes you are told, if you like – by e-mail or Discord.

Included for free: your server’s live status

Your players can see for themselves whether the server is up and how full it is right now.

In Discord
A message in your channel that updates itself: status, players, map and address. No bot needed.
On websites and forums
A banner as an image, for a signature for example. You copy the embed code in the panel.

Included with every game server at no extra charge, you switch it on in the panel. Player count and map are available for games with a server query, online or offline is always shown.

Example: a Discord channel shows the status message of a server with 12 of 50 players, ping, uptime and address. Below it is a forum post whose signature contains the status banner of the same server. Both show the same player count.

Frequently asked questions

What survivors want to know before ordering.

Your question is not here? Write to us

How quickly is my ARK server ready?

After payment your server sets itself up. With ARK the first setup takes longer than with small games, because the game is around 23 GB in size. You open the panel straight from your customer account.

How many players fit on my server?

No plan limits your slots. You set the maximum yourself in the startup settings, anywhere between 1 and 127.

How many your server carries smoothly depends on the map, the mods and the number of tamed creatures. If it gets tight, you add memory or cores.

Which maps can I play?

The Island, The Center, Ragnarok, Valguero, Crystal Isles and Fjordur, plus the maps of the expansions Scorched Earth, Aberration, Extinction and Genesis (Part 1 and 2). You enter the map in the startup settings; it applies from the next start.

For maps from an expansion, your players need that expansion in their own game.

Can I use mods from the Steam Workshop?

Yes. You enter the IDs of your mods in the startup settings, separated by commas. On start your server downloads them itself and keeps them up to date.

How do I set the rates for taming, harvesting and breeding?

With factors in two settings files: TamingSpeedMultiplier, HarvestAmountMultiplier and XPMultiplier go into GameUserSettings.ini, BabyMatureSpeedMultiplier into Game.ini. Both are in the folder ShooterGame/Saved/Config/LinuxServer; you edit them in the file manager or via SFTP.

Stop the server first – ARK rewrites its settings file when it shuts down. The rates calculator puts the finished lines together for you.

What happens when ARK updates?

If you switch on the automatic update in the startup settings, your server looks for a new version of the game on every start. It keeps your mods up to date on start anyway.

How do I back up my world?

When you stop the server in the panel, it saves the world first. For backups every plan has slots of its own, two to five depending on the plan: you back up with one click or set up a schedule yourself in the panel.

Can I change, extend or cancel later?

You move to a larger plan at any time and at once, the difference is charged pro rata; to a smaller one at the end of the term. Or you add memory, cores or storage one by one with “Extend your server”.

With monthly billing you can cancel your plan monthly. Longer terms can be chosen as well; then the agreed term applies.

Ready for day 1?

Pick a plan, pay – your server sets itself up.
